Park Run raises Money for the Teenage Cancer Trust
169 people completed the 5Km run twice around the Reservoir at the recent Park Run for the Teenage Cancer Trust which raised over £2,500 for this well-known charity. Over 90 members of the Aldenham community attended representing the staff, the parents, the Prep School and each of the Houses. It was also a record turnout for the McGill's Martlets with 41 members in attendance. The winner of the race was Rory McGeary who recorded a time of 19.29mins; he is the first Martlet to run under 20 minutes so we were all delighted for him.
Archie Hudson Rawlings in Year 12 was the inspiration for so many people to attend. It was great to also see his best friend James Stone along with his family at the event. Sadly, James is undergoing chemotherapy and it was in his honour that the event was held. Many thanks to everyone who took part, and to all who donated online.
Hopefully this will challenge more people to get involved with the Park Run Events, a national organisation with over 400 different venues across the UK and the world; each Saturday morning at 9.00am members of the public can take part in a free 5km run. It is a great community event and over 1million runners take part weekly.
Mr Yeabsley drives a minibus from school every Saturday with between 15 and 20 runners from the boarding community. Anyone interested is welcome to join them.
