The tradition of giving, so crucial to Aldenham for the future, can be traced back 400 years to our founder Richard Platt, through whose generosity the School exists. Aldenham, like many other independent schools, is not well-endowed and the vast majority of fee income is taken up by staff costs and maintaining our buildings and grounds.
The generosity of Aldenham’s former pupils, current and former parents, the Brewers’ Company and others with close connections to the School has from time to time helped provide financial support to upgrade our facilities. However we would like to do more to keep pace with modern education provision and offer essential bursary provision.
If you would like to give financially to Aldenham, the following are suggested ways to do so. Alternatively you can contact the Development Office where Ann Saffery, the Development Manager, or Jackie Wilkie, the Development Assistant, will be pleased to help you.
Cheque: Please make cheques payable to Aldenham School Charitable Trust and deliver or send to The Development Office, Aldenham School. Gifts by cheque are eligible for Gift Aid.
Standing Order: You may prefer the convenience of a Standing Order for regular giving. Please complete the attached form and post it to The Development Office, Aldenham School. One completed Gift Aid form will include all gifts made through a Standing Order.
Gift Aid: It is worth remembering that, as a registered charity, Aldenham is able to reclaim tax on your donation if you make a Gift Aid declaration stating that you are a UK tax-payer. There is no additional cost to you making a Gift Aid declaration. In addition, if you pay the higher rate of income tax (i.e. earn more than £34,600) you can currently reclaim £23 on every £100 you donate.
If you would like to declare Gift Aid you will find a Gift Aid Form here, and when completed please send it to The Development Office, Aldenham School.
Gifts from the US: Gifts from friends of Aldenham School who are living in the US or US citizens living in the UK who wish to give their gift in dollars will benefit from the US income tax deduction. Gifts may be made by contacting the British School and Universities Foundation, Inc. Their web site is http://www.bsuf.org/ or please contact the Aldenham School Development Office for more information.
Legacies: The gift of a legacy or bequest is one important way in which those who wish to support Aldenham financially can do so. The tradition of benefaction can be traced back to our founder, Richard Platt who wrote in his orders for the School that it should be built on land given to him ‘myne own inheritaunce lefte me by myne Auncestors for the instruction of poore mennes children’. If considering a legacy gift, you may wish to join the Richard Platt Society, alternatively please contact the Development Office.
