We welcome boys and girls of all nationalities and faiths. Each year a number of overseas students join us from a host of countries including Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, China, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan. Currently 8% of our pupils are from overseas. Students can join any year group, dependent on availability.

The majority of our long term overseas students share the objective of completing A level courses as a pathway to UK universities. Each year we have pupils who achieve places at Oxbridge and other red brick universities.

Any overseas student wishing to be considered for a place at Aldenham must have a good command of the English Language in order to progress with the curriculum, GCSE and A Level courses. Some students may wish to spend a term at an International Language School in England to improve their English prior to joining us. Others may wish to join us a term earlier (dependent on availability) for a settling-in period in order to improve their English, make new friends and experience a different culture.

Prospective candidates who wish to be considered for entry to Aldenham are required to send a letter of introduction and complete a Registration Form in the first instance. The Headmaster, Mr Fowler generally likes to meet all candidates for an informal interview at the School. This gives the candidate the opportunity to become familiar with the school and to take an assessment test in English and Mathematics.Alternatively, we can arrange for the test to be taken at the candidate's current school or by an Educational Consultant. Telephone interviews can also be arranged. A reference is also required from the candidate's current school to support their application.

All overseas students are integrated into lessons and extra curricular activities and are members of either day or boarding Houses.

Specialist EAL teachers are available for students providing one-to-one tuition.Sessions are also available for preparation for IELTS which includes language skills, subject specific learning and cultural awareness.

Although we are aware that communication with overseas parents is much more straightforward than it once was, it is a condition of entry to Aldenham School that pupils whose parents normally reside outside the UK must have a nominated person to act as guardian whilst the pupil is at school here.

If you or your family are visiting the United Kingdom and would like to visit Aldenham at any time please feel free to contact us.A tour of the facilities and an informal interview with Mr Fowler can be arranged at your convenience. Please contact Ms B Masters at admissions@aldenham.com
