Aldenham is a small school with a big heart. Within this caring and well-disciplined community, set in over 110 acres of Hertfordshire countryside yet only 13 miles from central London, it is our aim that each pupil should be known as an individual and encouraged to develop their all-round gifts to the full.
Finding the key to unlock this potential is our task; we are small enough to know each pupil well, yet large enough to offer the range of opportunities through which character can be built, and goals achieved.
The key aims at Aldenham are to:-
Encourage each pupil fully to develop his or her intellectual, physical and cultural talents.
Emphasise the importance of the social, moral and spiritual dimensions of community life in a modern society.
Set appropriate goals to challenge each individual within a small caring community.
Recognise and reward personal and collective achievement in a positive learning environment.
Nurture in pupils the character and skills with which to meet the challenges of life beyond school.
Maintain and develop a team of professional teachers who seek fulfilment in their work through the progress of their pupils.
Forge a partnership with parents and the wider community for the further development of the aims and life of the School.
Just 30 minutes travel from the centre of London and Heathrow, the school is ideally situated for overseas pupils. The boarding school ethos with a commitment to a full programme and boarding house system ensures high priority is placed on pastoral care, to ensure pupils flourish and realise their academic and personal potential. There are presently around 550 boys and girls at Aldenham aged between 11 and 18.
