| GCSE Results Day | |
Aldenham GCSE pupils were today celebrating their extremely successful results at the end of Y11. 26 of the year group gained 5 or more A*/A grades with the top performers being Dominic Potter (11 A/A*), Jasper Gruenewald (10A*/A), Marcus Hellman (10 A*/A), Jonathan Oommen (10 A*/A). The school as a whole was able to record that 35% of all GCSEs taken were graded either A* or A against the national figure of 20% (JCQ). 89% of all the exams were graded A* - C. Headmaster James Fowler commented “ The task for 15 and 16 year olds of being well organised enough to gain good grades across the whole school curriculum is one of the real challenges of the GCSE year and our pupils have again risen to this challenge magnificently. The vast majority of them will be very well placed to begin A Level courses and succeed at that level too.”
In line with around 50 other independent schools, including Eton and St Paul's, Aldenham this year will not be releasing their results to the media for publication in the series of league tables that appear late in August. The school will still be providing its results to those who have interest in them including current parents (via the parental area of the school website), feeder schools, and prospective parents on application. The school will also be providing the results to the Independent Schools' Council (ISC) who are responsible for the general collection of independent school data and to the DCSF for the government league tables which appear in the late autumn.
