The Beggar's Opera
The very first Aldenham School production in our new Theatre was a dazzling 1980s remix of the musical The Beggar’s Opera with polished performances by the boys and girls in Years 10 and above. Add to this some spectacular special effects by way of pyrotechnics, helicopter landings, confetti bombs, special lights and sound effects and you have all the pizzazz worthy of a West End show. The audience were mightily entertained by talented lead performances from Joe Bannister, Verity Gosden, Yazmine Ruzgar, Adrian Bliss, Jamie Coote and Ben Robbins which altogether guaranteed that the three evening shows were a complete sell-out.
All the performers have set a very high standard for the many that will tread these same boards in the future. Everyone agreed that the wonderful facilities that our intimate new theatre offers can only enhance the already-strong Drama department at Aldenham and we eagerly anticipate many more equally special productions.
One of the ways in which Parents and Old Aldenhamians have been supporting the rebuilding of the theatre has been to buy seats, which cost £300, and 130 have already been sold. If you would like to buy one of the few remaining seats please contact Mrs Jackie Wilkie in the Development Office jackie@aldenham.com - we would like to sell them all!
