CCF trip to HMS Albion

Aldenham School is lucky enough to have an affiliation with HMS Albion- the Royal Navy’s principal Assault ship.  As such a group of brave CCF cadets, including three from the Royal Air Force squadron left school on Saturday October 6th to meet with HMS Albion at Portsmouth. On Sunday the cadets had a private tour of HMS Victory- Nelson’s ship, and the Flagship of the Royal Navy to this day.  On Monday all cadets were on deck for the salute to HMS Victory and The Ark Royal as the Albion left Portsmouth.  Tuesday came all too soon, as with an  official armed police escort HMS Albion made its way through the Thames Barrier.

Before long it was time to say goodbye to HMS Albion and her crew. Captain Lowe was kind enough to chat with the cadets before their departure, and presented the School with a presentation photograph of some of the activities the Albion has been engaged in over the last few months. Back on deck there was  time to parade for the Headmaster before the Marines provided transport  in two of their special amphibious landing craft to the pier. An action packed and adventure filled few days, with thanks to  the Captain and Crew of the HMS Albion for their outstanding hospitality, and Mr Stanbury for his organisation.
