On 20th September the Master of the Brewers' Company Mr David Thompson turned the first sod for the building of our new Sixth Form Centre and extension to the existing Music School. Accompanying the Master were the Wardens from the Brewers' Company, Chairman of Governors and other Governors and staff along with members of the project team.
The building will be called The Wells Centre after former Chairman of Governors John Wells, and will comprise of a two storey construction providing music and teaching rooms and refurbishment of the old School Shop pavilion. Designed by Hub Architects, the new Sixth Form Centre will link to the current Music School to create classrooms for Psychology and for Music and will contain areas for both recreation and study, a facility for independent learning and group discussion, Careers Library and staff offices.
This is the latest build in a series of many recent developments at the school which includes the new Theatre, and a large English and Languages classroom block situated in the heart of the School.
