The Disney theme for this year's competition inspired some great performances from all members of Martineau's House. The excitement in the Theatre was palpable as we waited for the final productions, which students had been working on throughout the day.

Griffin House started the proceedings with a funny and imaginative interpretation of Beauty and the Beast, Swayne followed with The Lion King, a fine show which used the circle of life as its theme. The production of Toy Story by Neale House was well done, and took a light hearted approach to demonstrate rivalry, friendship and support between the year groups. Mason students performed confidently in their roles for Aladdin, using subtle use of costume and props. Cinderella by Beck House was next on stage with a modern take and excellent use of gender reversal for the main characters, although the two squeaky little mice stole their show. The final show, Robin Hood, by Elliot House was very well narrated throughout and showed clever use of some improvised props.

The judges, three Sixth Form Drama students, came to a unanimous decision and announced the Swayne House production of the Lion King as the winning entry, Griffin House in 2nd place and Mason 3rd.

Best actor was Zackary Agama (Swayne) who took the lead as Simba in The Lion King, 2nd was Harry Taylor for his very funny portrayal of Belle in Beauty & the Beast. In 3rd place was Abdullah Awatai for his part as the Gene in Aladdin.
