Aldenham Students Remember the HolocaustPrint this page

30 year 10 students attended Holocaust Memorial Day activities on 26 January 2012 at Borehamwood synagogue to hear from a survivor of the Lotz Ghetto in Poland, Janine Webber. Students were moved to hear from such a spritely and spirited 80 year old woman who experienced first-hand the discrimination in 1940s Poland. Students heard about the various rescuers who chose to hide Janine and her family so that she and her Aunt survived.

The wider Aldenham community commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day with an exceptional talk in chapel by Rabbi Natan Levy, from Shenley United Synagogue who spoke about Father Patrick Desbois and his role in documenting and remembering the holocaust in the Ukraine.
Students were asked to sign the HMD2012 pledge to Speak Up, Speak Out against hatred. You can sign the pledge here: http://speakupnow.org.uk/sign_our_pledge.php
