NEW THEATRE PROJECT
The seats are in, the final finishing touches have gone into the newly redeveloped theatre and the transformation is amazing. The old School Hall Theatre, which had been little changed since its opening in 1928, has been gutted and extended and developed into a modern theatre with sound room and studio classroom and will provide a state of the art performing arts centre.
The pupils are already using the space for classes and play rehearsals and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to make this possible.
The first production in the theatre, The Beggar’s Opera on Thursday 29th, Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December was a resounding success and the choice of this restoration classic piece, but with a modern spin in terms of music was entirely appropriate for our new space. We have been delighted with the response to our appeal to support the Theatre and we have already sold 132 seats - there are still a few left for sale so if you would like one let us know. We still also need to find some more money to buy some of technical equipment – any contribution would be welcome. If you have received the theatre brochure and thought I’d like to help with that, there’s still time and we would like to hear from you. You can contact development@aldenham.com for more information.
