After a normal school day, the CCF Army contingent left Aldenham for 24 hours army field training at Crowborough. Arriving in the pitch dark and freezing cold fog the Cadets soon settled into their army barracks. The following morning they were up before sunrise ready for breakfast and a gruelling day. After learning to cook army compo rations on very small stoves, they were not amused to discover that the Officers had bacon and egg rolls, expertly cooked by Mr Cockerill!
The day was spent learning the art of camoflage and concealment. The senior Cadets managed this so well that when Miss Cushing went looking for them she only found some of them when she stepped on them! The assault course loomed large but the Cadets made short work of this before boarding the bus for home - exhausted, dirty but happy.
