A Level Art

In the Sixth Form pupils are given more independence. Each pupil has their own workspace where they can effectively display current work and leave incomplete studies.

For AS Level emphasis is on the breadth of study and pupils are encouraged to read/research around chosen themes. Personal themes and ideas together with Art Historical research are explored through consultation with their tutors leading to the completion of three units which are assessed for the AS award.

A2 Level sees pupils develop ideas researched in the AS. Here emphasis moves to depth of study with pupils developing more personally motivated work supported by well-researched analysis of particular themes and relevant in-depth historical background.

Visits to galleries are an important part of the course providing valuable first hand research and inspiration for students. During and at the end of the course pupils have the opportunity to exhibit their work within the school.
