The re-launch of the School CCF was a welcome return after a gap of 17 years for a school which boasts amongst its ex-pupils the most senior ranking officer in the British Army – Field Marshal the Lord Vincent of Coleshill, and the founder of the Parachute Regiment – General Sir Richard Gale.

Pupils can opt for the CCF as one of their activities and then choose whether they wish to join the RAF or the Army sections. They are provided with a uniform and are given instruction in topics such as drill, wearing a uniform smartly, first aid, skill at arms, principles of flight, navigation and many more. Cadets then experience adventurous training and lots of other activities supported by the Armed Forces. In March the Army section will go on an overnight exercise where they will eat rations and learn skills such as camouflage and concealment, the RAF group will go to an RAF base and fly in helicopters, cadets from both sections will also have the opportunity to visit HMS Albion and stay onboard as guests of the Captain.
