This year's Spring Concert comprised an exciting programme of various musical styles, starting with the William Tell Overture by Rossini and the main theme from The Big Country (Jerome Moross) splendidly executed by the Sinfonia. This was followed by Greater Lover (John Ireland) beautifully sung by the Cantabile featuring soloists Sophie Radon and Christopher Field, all looking particularly smart in their new music ties provided by the Annual Fund. George Mizel's playing of Mozart's piano concerto No. 20 was a huge challenge for anyone and he performed it superbly. There is no shortage of talented musicians at Aldenham; ably demonstrated by David Bexon's middle movement from Frackenpohl's Concertino for Tuba and Carl Rennie's Clarinet Concerto K.622 in A Major (Mozart). This was followed by a change of beat as Emily Baker, Charles Parry and Dan Kirk treated their audience to some R&B with their interpretation of I Look to You by R. Kelly.
An excellent evening was rounded off with John Rutter's popular collection of Negro spiritual arrangements, Feel the Spirit which perfectly highlighted the beautiful singing voices of April Koyejo and Alice Erman along with the choir. The entire building reverberated as everyone joined in the final number When the Saints Go Marching In.
